The best ski resorts in Europe and North America (Part 2)

Flims Laax Falera resort is not just for skiing. The trails are among the most evenly divided paths for the different skill levels of any Swiss resort, with 64 km easily categorized, averaging 70 km and 46 km for each expert.

About 44 km are designated free routes. Flims Laax Falera ski resort is 90 minutes from Zürich, in one of Europe’s best snow regions and skiing at an altitude of 1,100 to 3,018 meters.

Engelberg-Titlis

Just 45 minutes from Lucerne and just over an hour from Zürich, Mount Titlis is one of Switzerland’s most popular attractions, with tourists ascending to its peak in a state-of-the-art setting cable car round the year. But in the winter, the mountain and the small monastery village of Engelberg at its foot become the largest family-owned winter sports resort in central Switzerland.

Between Brunni and Jochpass, more than 80 kilometers run a lot of beginners and intermediate skiers, with 27 km of easy runs, 47 km of intermediate, and only eight kilometers of expert pistes. Some of the easiest runs are on the lower slopes around Trübsee and Gerschnialp.

The slopes are steeper on higher areas and on glaciers, where skiing is available from October to May. With a slope of 609 meters, the region’s longest trail is less than 13 km away. The quality of the dough here makes it especially popular with skiers and outdoor skiers.
