Borovets, Bulgaria

Bulgaria has been kind of a bargain ski destination, of which none is more so than its oldest and biggest ski resort Borovets which is located outside the eurozone making the prices much cheaper than other glamorous Alpine resorts. It is however, rather small so most intermediate skiers can get around all the area in a couple of days. The resort offers english speaking classes, so there’s no language barrier prevent foreigners to enjoy a wonderful time.

Soldeu, Andorra

Soldeu might not be Andorra’s most charming ski resort but it is a family and beginner orientated resort with great value for money for skiers on a tight budget. Thanks to tax-free status, accommodation, après ski, and shopping are both cheap options. It’s also convenience as the main road into France runs through the middle of the village without the snobbery associated with other resorts. Having combined with neighbor, Pas de la Casa, in 2002 to create the Grandvalira mega-area to provide greater options for more adventurous skiers at affordable price. 

Bohinj, Slovenia

The Bohinj ski resort is a good value for money ski destination, located in the middle of the Triglav National Park making it convenient to visit slopes at both Kobla and Vogel. Kobla is not as famous other, however it offers skiing for all abilities with significant renovation is expected in the coming years, although it means that prices are expected to higher as a result. Vogel is a great all year round resort that offers something for both beginner and expert. It takes around two hours by road from Ljubljana Airport to the Bohinj, but is also reachable by train although it a bit longer but a great way to cut more costs.
